Rules for VRO, VRA posts relaxed for women


The State government has relaxed the rules for women who are applying for village revenue officer and village revenue assistant posts. So far, only local people were allowed to apply for the posts. With the relaxation of norms, daughters’ in law can also apply if they hold Aadhar cards and voter cards in the respective villages. This will benefit married women as they can get jobs in their native villages if they qualify in the written examination.


Srikakulam Additional Joint Collector RS Rajakumar, Srikakulam District Revenue Officer Nur Bhasim Khasim on Friday announced the notification for filling the posts of 77 VROs and 176 VRA posts. They said that candidates aged up to 36 years can apply for the posts. The government has given five years’ age relaxation to SCs and STs. Physically challenged persons up to 46 years of age can apply for the posts.

The candidates have to apply before January 13 and the exam will be conducted on February 2. A help desk with toll free number (1800 425 6625) has been created to clarify the doubts of candidates.

In Vizianagaram, Additional Joint Collector U.C.G. Nageswara Rao told a press conference notification for recruitment of 90 VRO and 137 VRA posts would be issued on December 28.

As the candidates must fill application forms online, they can utilise eSeva services by remitting not more than Rs.10.

Age limit: 18 to 36 years as on 01.07.2013. Age relaxation is applicable as per the rules.

Educational Qualification:  Degree from any University in India established or incorporated by or under a Central Act, State Act or a Provincial Act or an institution recognized by the University Grants Commission.

Application Fee: For general –Rs. 180/- and for reserved category – Rs.100/-

Selection Process: Written Test. There is no Interview for these posts.

Written Exam Pattern: Written Test consist of two papers for a total of 300 Marks

Paper I: General Studies – 150 Questions – 150 Marks

Paper II: Rural development – 150 Questions – 150 Marks

 Paper-2: 

 Rural Development and Problems in Rural Areas with special reference to Andhra Pradesh  (Questions in Paper-II will be framed with a view to test the General Awareness levels of the candidates broadly about developmental aspects related to Rural Areas.)

1) Public Health and Sanitation, prevention of epidemics, hygiene behavoiur, village development.

2) Social tensions and conflicts in contemporary society – problems of deprived groups.

3) Indian System of Democracy – Democratic institutions, Panchayat Raj – Co-operative Institutions in the service of Rural Areas, their role and their effectiveness.
