Study the following pie-chart and answer
the questions given below:
Preferences of students among six
beverages in terms of degree of angle in the pie-chart
1. The number of students who prefer Beverage C are approximately what
percent of the number of students who prefer Beverage D?
Solution :
The number of students who prefer Beverage
C are 14.40.
The number of students who prefer Beverage
D are 122.40.
Therefore the required percentage is 14.40 x 100
= 11.765 %
122.40
Approximately
equal to 12%.
2. How many students prefer Beverage B and Beverage E together?
Solution:
Given the
total number of students = 6800
The angle
made be Beverage B =57.60
The angle
made be Beverage E =64.80
Therefore
required percentage = (57.60 + 64.80) x 6800
3600
=
2312.
3. What is the difference between the total number of students who
prefer Beverage A and C together and the total number of students who prefer
Beverage D and F together?
Solution:
Given the total number of students = 6800
The total number of students who prefer Beverage A and C are
79.20 + 14.40
The total number of students who prefer Beverage D and F are
122.40 + 21.60
Therefore the required percentage =
(79.20 + 14.40) – (122.40 +21.60) x 6800 = 952.
3600
4. The number of students who prefer Beverage E and F together are what
percent of the total number of students?
Solution:
The number
of students who prefer Beverage E are 64.80.
The number
of students who prefer Beverage D are 21.60.
Therefore required percentage is (64.80 +
21.60) x 100%
3600
=24%
